Lindsay Malu Kido

My name is Lindsay Malu Kido! I am mixed-Indigenous from the Kanaka Maoli and Uchinaanchu nations, as well as part Japanese. Originally from Hawai‘i, I now reside in the majestic desert of Las Vegas. I identify as a queer, pansexual, non-binary demi female, and my pronouns are she/they.

I am currently in the final semester of my PhD in Indigenous Education, with a dissertation titled "Explorations of Indigenous Body Image & Body Sovereignty: Re-presenting Our Indigenous Selves through Stories and Photography." My academic journey also includes a Master’s and Bachelor’s degree in Education and Psychology.

By trade, I am a professional poker player. I moved to Las Vegas in 2014 (on the unceded lands of the Southern Paiute) to pursue my lifelong dream of playing poker, and I have been fortunate to do so ever since. As I work to diversify my professional portfolio, I am also a self-proclaimed “serial social entrepreneur,” founding businesses such as Empower Bands and Empower Pleasure.

In 2023, I took on the leadership of Craft Beer Girls, the world's largest network for women who love craft beer. I am thrilled to continue breaking barriers and creating safe spaces for women and non-binary individuals in the beer community and industry.

Additionally, I founded and run Beer is for Everyone, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to advocating for diversity, inclusion, equity, and justice in the craft beer industry and beyond. As the Founder and Executive Director, my role encompasses everything from writing educational content to fundraising outreach, constantly adapting to the needs of the organization and the craft beer community.

My life and work are incredibly multifaceted, and it has been a privilege to explore and pursue my passions. This is more than a job for me; it is my life's work. I am deeply invested in creating positive change in the world. My unique intersections position me to connect with a diverse array of individuals, and I hope my endeavors will amplify and strengthen my communities and beyond.
